OverviewPepsiCo R&D are hiring for the role or Research & Application Sr Scientist (Maternity Leave Cover).

We are the concentrate team in PepsiCo (PGCS) working across the Beverage, Nutrition and Snacks categories to deliver concentrate for many of PepsiCo’s mega brands including Gatorade, 7Up and Pepsi. The objective of this role is to execute formulation and application characterization of product concepts enabling PepsiCo’s innovation pipeline and to support delivery of advancement in fundamental Bioscience knowledge base, working closely with academic partners to integrate and interpret complex pre-clinical data streams, translating to industry relevant application and opportunity spaces.

Responsibilities

• Concept formulation, application characterization and performance modelling of powder and liquid-based consumer products.
• Project manage execution of PepsiCo deliverables defined in partner collaboration agreements.
• Interpret and integrate data streams from multiple partner labs.
• Define concept opportunities from early outputs of research collaborations, and screen in model systems, following PepsiCo’s Science and Technology stage gate process.
• Take leadership of projects once initiated and manage functional activity to ensure resources are aligned to maximise delivery.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships across R&D and non R&D functions as necessary to support technology development and delivery.
• Report on projects/ program progression vs milestone planning through internal fora to senior management (from optimised one pagers to technical deep dive).
• Prepare scientific reports on findings and share best in class expertise with relevant associates

QualificationsEssential Criteria:

• M.S. with 5 years experience (Including post graduate experience) in pre-clinical research, metabolomics or gut health/microbiome research.
• Process chemistry, technology, formulation and powder behviour knowledge and experience.
• Ability to provide thought leadership on both strategic and tactical aspects of projects
• Outstanding teamwork, communication and leadership skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex metabolomic data and pre-clinical outputs from multiple labs
• Proven track record in maintaining good working relationship across multiple functions.
• Demonstrated expertise to develop, plan, conduct and coordinate prototype development initiatives.
• Strong working knowledge of experimental design.
• Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong technical knowledge of pre-clinical research, metabolomics or gut health/microbiome research.
• Experience working with research partners at off-site lab locations would be an advantage.

• Can-do attitude to delivering output using a matrix model.
• Lead and influence project teams of 3 or more people with successful translation of academic output to commercial opportunity.
