I wonder if The Serpent Queen will settle into more conventional storytelling as Catherine becomes caught up in power struggles … But I’m hopeful that the magic will persist, as it’s easily the most original aspect of this series.

We were very excited to see it after watching the original dDe Medici series. But the directing and the way the story is being told was so poor we just can't watch anymore. It reminded me of Eola Holmes where the main character, pauses to talk to the camera. That may be okay in a satirical comedy but for me it doesn't work in a historical drama.
